Stepping it up a notch!

This week Joe has been working on the steps on the bed. He's finishing off the inside edge of the step. The factory didn't originally wrap the edge of the steps into the fender, which to us looked incomplete. To remedy the situation, Joe has added an edge to the inner step which ties the step into the fender quite nicely.. He also finished welding the exhaust tip brackets to the steps so we can mount the chrome exhaust tips in place.

Here is the exhaust cutout in the step as well as how the inner edge (by the tire) looked before being modified.

The silver edge you see in the picture above is where Joe added material to tie in better with the fender above the step.

The edge has also been shaped to align with the fender edge better.

After a little more sanding and bondo, the edge of the step and the fender fit really nicely.

Here is a picture of the new brackets that will hold the exhaust tip in place which should eliminate vibration from the exhaust system.

Here is how the exhaust tip fits in place..

Here is a side shot of the bracket bolted to the exhaust tip.

And here is the finished product.. The exhaust tip will look great once the bed is painted and the chrome tip sticks out just enough to catch a little attention. Another great example of how we're stepping it up a notch on Thunderpig! ;-)
