Stepping it up a notch!

This week Joe has been working on the steps on the bed. He's finishing off the inside edge of the step. The factory didn't originally wrap the edge of the steps into the fender, which to us looked incomplete. To remedy the situation, Joe has added an edge to the inner step which ties the step into the fender quite nicely.. He also finished welding the exhaust tip brackets to the steps so we can mount the chrome exhaust tips in place.

Here is the exhaust cutout in the step as well as how the inner edge (by the tire) looked before being modified.

The silver edge you see in the picture above is where Joe added material to tie in better with the fender above the step.

The edge has also been shaped to align with the fender edge better.

After a little more sanding and bondo, the edge of the step and the fender fit really nicely.

Here is a picture of the new brackets that will hold the exhaust tip in place which should eliminate vibration from the exhaust system.

Here is how the exhaust tip fits in place..

Here is a side shot of the bracket bolted to the exhaust tip.

And here is the finished product.. The exhaust tip will look great once the bed is painted and the chrome tip sticks out just enough to catch a little attention. Another great example of how we're stepping it up a notch on Thunderpig! ;-)

Rear window... Installed!!

Check it out!! We now have a rear window!! And it looks cool!

The new window rubber was installed and allowed to sit in place a few days before the glass was put in to make sure the rubber fits properly.
I think the new window looks nice! You don't see many trucks like this with a split window in it.

AC lines attached

The AC lines are now attached from the engine compartment through the bulkhead, into the cab of the truck.

Here is the bulkhead as seen from the engine compartment.. At the time this picture was taken we were still missing a fitting to complete the assembly.

Here is a shot of the bulkhead from within the cab. These lines come through the old truck vent shaft (no longer being used since we have AC).. The opening you see will eventually be filled with a speaker.

Everything seems to fit just right! All of the lines are now in place. I can't wait to test out the air conditioning.. This baby is gonna be ice cold!

Window and Tail Lights are in!

Yesterday the glass installer's put our new front window in the truck! We got a great deal from a local company that Joe has connections with..

Joe also installed our new Hagan LED tail lights. I'm hoping they're bright enough, because they're pretty stealthy.. :)

Happy New Year 2011! Fire the engine!

Its been a few month's since we've heard Thunderpig roar, so we figured.. why not ring in the New Year with my favorite 454!

The video is best if you watch it in 480p (default is 240p)

Look'n good! It was just polished! :)

Zach and Logan love hanging out at the shop and checking out Thunderpig!

Jen and Logan saying.. Hey buddy, you going my way? :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Bed primed and look'n good!

I'm always amazed at how different things look after they've been painted.. The bed really looks awesome with a fresh coat of primer on it. The sides, fenders, rollpan, all of it looks great. In fact, not long from now we should be ready to layout the oak wood floor!

Here is Grandma Twogood and Logan checking out the bed. You may notice the header flipped upside down in front. This is so they can sand the ends without loosing the squarness of the bed and to straighten out the edges.

Here is the drivers side of the bed.

Notice how nice the inner tubs look? A lot of time was spent making sure these rolled inner and outer edges were smooth. Great job guys!

Here is the drivers side rear. Most of what you see on the panel will be covered by the exterior fenders.

Drivers side rear. You can see how nice the edge looks from the top of the rail, all the way to the bottom of the roll pan.

The edges of the roll pan look sweet. Next up is to cut out the openings for the tail lights.

Another shot of the bed.

And here is the truck and bed in the same shot! Can't wait to bolt the bed down on Thunderpig!
